The marriage certificate certifies the marriage union of two persons and contains some primary information such as personal data of the groom and the bride, place and date of marriage.
Please note that it is possible to get a more comprehensive certificate which is the extract of marriage act (“estratto di matrimonio”) reporting all the data recorded in the marriage certificate plus some additional information like citizenship, current place of residence, names of the parents of the bride and of the groom, marital property regime, potential divorce (in some cases some of these are not always specified).
